Why it is worth your time

The Ride of a Lifetime is Bob Iger's 2019 memoir of his 15 years as chief executive of Disney. Iger started at ABC in 1974 as a studio supervisor, rose through the network, and took over Disney from Michael Eisner in 2005. The book covers the purchases of Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm and 21st Century Fox, the launch of Disney+, and his dealings with Steve Jobs. Jason ran it in his TWiST book club and told listeners in May 2020 that he likes stories about the executives of the 80s and 90s. Iger fits that group. It suits readers who want to see how a large acquisition is decided from the top. The caveat is that it is a chief executive's own account, published in 2019 while he still held the job, and it could not foresee his return as chief executive in November 2022.
